Max Angus
In 2006 The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery held a retrospective exhibition of this well known Tasmanian icon. The works we have in the gallery are all recently painted by this 96 year young artist. A real gentleman, amusing, considerate and a splendid artist. He was one of the first artists to exhibit in our gallery forty years ago with its inaugural exhibition and was guest speaker at our fortieth Birthday celebration last year.. We have been lucky and acquired two works from his Lake Pedder series ( featured in his book called "Lake Pedder"). We have a range of fine water colours s and oils from this Tasmanian icon.

Jacqueline Fowler
Jacqueline is a member of the Twenty Melbourne Artists Society, started by Max Meldrum in 1918. She is a tonal impressionist who paints in oils and pastels. Jacqueline grew up with Japanese wall hangings \, china and art and each vase pictured comes from her private collection. Her work has been well received at the Gallery and her first solo show is scheduled for this year..

Gillian Lojek
Gillian is very popular. She was a finalist in the Islington Salamanca Art Prize, Wrest Point Art Awards and People's Choice at the Royal Hobart Art Show. She has a Honours Degree in Graphic Design.

John Lownds
His work is held in various private collections, in all Australian States and in private collections in California and Houston, Texas, U.S.A. He held his inaugural show at the Salamanca Collection in 2008, and in the same year won first prize in the Artery Art on Show exhibition at the Royal Hobart Show. He has a solo exhibition opening on 5 March "Coastal Meanderings" and the work is bright, bold and beautifully executed.
Andrew McIlroy
Andrew McIlroy has completed studies with Melbourne, Monash and Swinburne Universities and the Julian Ashton Art School. He has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in Australia and the USA. In 2006 McIlroy was a finalist in the ANL Maritime Art Prize, the North Sydney Art Prize and he was selected for the Landcom International Artists Project. In 2008 he was a finalist in the Kings School Art Prize, Sydney. After two acclaimed sell-out exhibitions in 2007 and 2009 McIlroy embarks on his third Melbourne solo show. Jerzy Michalski
Jerzy Michalski is a very talented Tasmanian-based painter who exhibits regularly at The Salamanca Collection. Jerzy’s works often reflect the themes of some of his most popular subjects - interiors and the man-made landscape. Born in Gorzow in 1949, Jerzy was academically trained in his home country. In 1977, he completed a Masters in Fine Art Painting. In 1985, he was awarded a doctorate in Fine Art Painting and became the Head of the Drawing Studio at the Polish Academy of Fine Art, and in 1991 was made Associate Professor in Fine Arts-Painting at the Fine Art Academy. He has lived in Tasmania since late 1992.

Amanda Parer
Amanda Parer is a versatile artist who is gaining a strong following. Eva Schultz
Eva has no formal art training although has architectural and drawing qualifications. Her natural ability is easily discerned in the haunting images, from "Stealican" to "Resolve to Slip or Fade". Her work is different. She will be doing a shared show with Chris Bennett later this year and it will be worth looking at!! Says Selby ".. her skill is as obvious as her images are arresting"

Luke Wagner
There is something special about Luke’s paintings. Born in Hobart in 1962 Luke is a self-taught artist and his work is well recognised as being distinctive and individualistic. Luke won the first prize in the Seascape Award at the 1995 Circular Head Art Show, and was awarded a special mention by the well-known judge William Mora in the 1998 Eskleigh Art Award. Luke also won first prize in the Central Highlands Art Award in November 1999. He was a finalist in the Tattersal Competition in 2006 and a Glover Finalist in 2006. Sam Wade
This Tasmanian born artist, winner of The Brett Whitely Art Scholarship and 2009 finalist in the Doug Moran National Portraiture Prize, has had one exhibition at the gallery and a mini show last year. His works often feature the urban landscape with people living the everyday life.

Tasmanian Katy won our Salamanca Islington Art Prize in 2008. An internationally acclaimed artist, she exhibits in Bulgaria, Egypt, China, Canada and Finland to mention a few countries. Ingeborg Zotz
This quirky German born artist still exhibits regularly in Germany. She has been very popular with our patrons and has run workshops in the Gallery. In 2000 she moved to Tasmania to live here with her family. Since 2005 she has been living in Sydney. She also works as book illustrator for children books and as cartoonist. Ingeborg has continued to exhibit in Germany but has not exhibited since 2002 in Australia. |
